Structured ostensibly as a tribute to the group's "European roots," nordic Redhead could be forgiven for play the "global village" exotica card. The thought is not sound enough, however, nor is it executed as smoothly as one might have hoped. The EP consists of five songs, the first two of which are versions of songs off their 's misgiving.
Blonde Redhead's Melodie Citronique reworks iii songs from its excellent volume Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons and adds two songs that highlight the group's multicultural, bilingual approach. "En Particulier" is a straight carver rendering of Lemons' dreamy "In Particular"; "Odiata Per le Sue Virtu" is "Hated Because of Great Qualities" with an Italian makeover. "Four Damaged Lemons," a remix of "For the Damaged," makes the sound even more delicate and fine lovely by adding a coiled piano, brittle physics guitar, rearwards sound effects, and chiming keyboards.
